Grateful Donor Gives Back for Services Received

Until Tim Fisk was hospitalized in February without insurance, he did not know that Barnabas could help him after he was released. That’s when he was referred to Barnabas for follow-up medical care.

“I live in Hilliard and did not realize how much Barnabas does for the people in need in our county,” he said. “So, when I saw the notice about the mobile food distributions, I decided to stop by.”

Tim was impressed by the food he was given and thankful for the opportunity to eat more nutritious produce.

“The month after I received the food, I decided to take a small part of my Social Security check and donate it to Barnabas,” said Tim. “I used to volunteer at a church food pantry so I understand how it feels to need the food and to be thankful for the people who helped.”

When Tim talked about his experiences with the Barnabas medical and food program staff, he was steadfast in his belief that Nassau County residents must continue to support Barnabas through donations and volunteering.

“Everyone at Barnabas is awesome!” he said. “Giving back to those who have helped me is important. I want to inspire others to do the same.”
