Fernandina Beach, FL — The Okefenoke Rural Electric Membership Corporation Foundation has awarded the Barnabas Center with a grant in support of its mission to provide nutritious food to benefit Nassau County residents experiencing hunger.
Last fiscal year, the Barnabas Center distributed 614,368 pounds of healthy food to more than 27,201 people in need, including more than 7,000 children. The food pantry and mobile distributions served 7,908 households. This contribution will be critical to providing healthy food for hungry families, many with young children, through the Barnabas Center Nutrition Services Program and will be distributed in partnership with the Northeast Florida Fair Association through mobile distributions in Callahan, FL.
Jamie Reynolds, Barnabas President/CEO, said “This grant was important in advancing our mission in Nassau County last year and we are grateful again this year for the Okefenoke Rural Electric Membership Corporation Foundation for their outstanding support to provide help and hope in Nassau County.”
