Responding to COVID-19

The Barnabas staff and board leadership has been working diligently to prepare for a potential COVID-19 outbreak in our area and want to assure our supporters and partners that we have plans and practices in place to ensure the safety or our staff, volunteers, clients, patients, customers and partners.

At this time, Barnabas and its programs will remain open for business, with some reduction in hours and services in some areas. We will continue to provide updates should anything change with our operations and provision of services to our community. As the major safety net provider for individual and families in crisis in Nassau County, our goal is to continue to serve people in need as long and as much as we can.

Currently, the most immediate community need we are working to address is the provision of food.  Lower income households are being disproportionately affected by this crisis, especially those who are unable to work due to businesses closing or reducing their workforce.  With the majority of jobs in our county in the service and hospitality industry, significant numbers of people will be affected.  We are working with Feeding Northeast Florida and other suppliers to obtain food for families in need.  We also anticipate that families with reduced or no income and no savings will soon be facing rent, mortgage and utility bills that they will be unable to pay. We are also on the front lines as the only health care provider for uninsured adults in the county and are screening individuals who are exhibiting symptoms of the virus and connecting them to our county health department for testing.  And during this critical time, we are raising funds to help support families in need of food and/or housing assistance and health care to ensure that they are healthy and stable.

Thank you for your continued support. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us at (904) 261-7000 or info@barnabasnassau.org. For more information about Barnabas and our services, visit www.BarnabasNassau.org.
