BARNABAS CENTER LAUNCHES EMPTY BOWLS ONLINE MARKETPLACE

Shop ONLINE for locally handcrafted gifts that support the Empty Bowls fundraising event and will delight both givers and receivers! These beautiful, one-of-a-kind artisan bowls are available ONLY on BiddingOwl.com.

The Empty Bowls Marketplace (BiddingOwl.com/BarnabasCenter) features more than 100 bowls painted by Nassau County residents who donated their time and talent, as well as the work of talented artists–, Robin Bruck-Tanner, Trevor Dunn, Michael Fay, Alice Henry, Stephen Heywood, Barbara Koontz, Lis Krawiecki, Billie McCray, Sarah McCullough, Jacqueline Stouse, and Stephen Weston.

Pam Fox, Empty Bowls Event Chair, said “I am proud of the community coming together to support those who need us the most, our neighbors. Barnabas Center concentrates on delivering hope and the Empty Bowls event allows us to do just that—deliver hope.”

The online site and its selection of gifts are the result of an army of local artisans and volunteers who spent many hours painting and crafting bowls this spring and summer. Amelia Makery (AmeliaMakery.com) hosted paint parties, then glazed and fired more than 1,000 bowls for the luncheon event and many of these bowls are featured on the online auction. Local photographer Lynn Tennille, (lynntennillephotography.shootproof.com) spent many hours of her donated time professionally photographing the bowls for the online auction site.

The Empty Bowls Marketplace (BiddingOwl.com/BarnabasCenter) allows shoppers to bid on items or buy them outright. The online marketplace will close on November 29th.  Purchased items will be available for pickup at Barnabas Center on December 6th and December 7th from 11 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

This year’s 10th annual Barnabas Center Empty Bowls luncheon event will be held on Monday, November 27th, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island.  The event will raise funds to help individuals and families in our area who are experiencing hunger.  For more information, visit barnabasnassau.org/events/empty-bowls. Parking will be extremely limited and carpooling is strongly encouraged. Parking will be available starting at 10:45 a.m. at Peters Point Beach Front Park, with a complimentary event shuttle service provided by Omni Resorts Amelia Island.  The event is currently sold out but a waiting list is being maintained.
