Empty Bowls

Empty Bowls at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island

AN EMPTY BOWL IS A SYMBOL OF HUNGER. In support of our neighbors coping with food insecurity, Barnabas Center is hosting our 11th annual Empty Bowls event to raise awareness and funds to combat hunger and crisis in Nassau County. A simple meal of soup, bread and dessert will be served by volunteers. In addition, each guest will be able to select a beautiful, hand-painted bowl to take home. Potters and volunteers throughout the area have painted ceramic bowls so that each attendee can have a permanent reminder of the many bowls we still need to fill to provide nourishment to our neighbors who struggle with hunger.

We have set Monday, December 2, 2024, as the 11th annual Empty Bowls luncheon, from 12 to 1 p.m. at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. Tickets will be available starting September 1st and are $40 each.

Parking will be extremely limited, and carpooling is strongly encouraged. Parking will be available starting at 10:45 a.m. at Peters Point Beach Front Park, with a complimentary event shuttle service provided by Omni Resorts Amelia Island. Shuttle service will be available 10:45 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Empty Bowls Entertainment – Hupp & Ray

Guests will enjoy the soothing sounds of musical entertainers Hupp & Ray at the 11th annual Empty Bowls fundraising luncheon.   “Hupp” Huppmann and Ray Hetchka have long been one of the most in-demand entertainers on Amelia Island and Barnabas Center is proud to welcome them back to the event.

Their tight harmonies punctuate an eclectic blend of classic and alternative rock, blues, folk, pop, and R&B.  Their music will promote joy and goodwill as Barnabas Center raises critical funds to help others in our community.  Please make sure to stop by and tell them thank you for entertaining during the sold-out event!

Empty Bowls – Individual Tickets

Tickets will be available starting September 1 and are $40 each!

Would You Like to Host or attend an Open an Empty Bowls Paint Party?

Bowl painting parties are underway!  The Empty Bowls fundraiser is a symbolic reminder of the many “bowls” in our community that need to be filled for people who struggle with hunger or food insecurity.  Each guest will select a hand-painted bowl to commemorate their attendance and to serve as a reminder of hunger in our community.
In preparation for the event, hundreds of community members will come together and paint hundreds of bowls while attending paint parties at the Barnabas Center Studio.  Barnabas Center has the challenge of painting over 1,000 bowls this year in preparation for this event and the online bowl auction.

🎨 Drop in and join us at the Barnabas Center Studio every 1st Wednesday of the month, 10 am to noon, located at 1303 Jasmine Street, Suite 104.

🎨 Or schedule groups of up to 25 on Tuesday or Wednesday from 4 pm to 6 pm.  Other dates and times, the studio is available upon request only.

Get creative and join the fun- see you there!
