Barnabas Center released its annual report in early October, which highlights the major impact Barnabas made in 2018-2019 to people in need in Nassau County.
Among the highlights of the past year, Barnabas:
- Provided crisis assistance to 183 households to avoid homelessness with rent, mortgage and utility payments.
- Provided 382,219 pounds of healthy food to more than 5,000 people in need.
- Provided 1,722 uninsured men and women with critical medical and dental care, mental health and vision services. Also, $3.9 million in health care services were donated by the Baptist Health system, doctors, specialists and other health care providers.
- Graduated 15 women from the 16-week Hope Builders for Women program which helped them earn a living wage and lift themselves and their families out of poverty.
- Provided Meal Packs to 335 homeless children every Friday of the school year.
- 284 active volunteers and 168 additional volunteers donated 19,315 hours of service to Barnabas’ critical programs.
- Charity Navigator 4-Star rating for 13 consecutive years.
