On September 13th through September 18th, Barnabas Center will partner with the Rotary Clubs of Nassau County to collect food donations to aid thousands of people struggling with hunger. This county-wide food drive will benefit the Barnabas food pantry by restocking its shelves with healthy food.
During this current COVID-19 spike, Barnabas is asking the community to come together and help restock the Barnabas food pantry with healthy, nonperishable food items. Suggested healthy food items include low-sodium, low-fat products, and low sugar products. The healthy food choices are a new initiative this year, however, Barnabas will accept with gratitude your canned food choices.
Businesses, churches, and civic groups have come together to provide drop-off locations for donated food items. During the week of September 13th, community members can stop by any of the drop-off locations to deposit their donations. Also, food items will be collected and brought to the Barnabas food pantry on September 18th.

The face of hunger in Nassau County includes working families, children, and the elderly. According to the Nassau County Census Bureau, 9 percent of our community is hungry or facing food-insecurity, which is simply not knowing when or how they will get their next meal.
