Leading Hope Builders for Women Initiative
Lakisha Jones is a native of Saint Mary’s, Georgia. She completed her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology at Valdosta State University. Lakisha has experience in social services working with children & families as well as substance and mental health. She has a passion for serving vulnerable populations to make a positive impact in the community.
In her position as the Resource Coordinator at Barnabas, she will be leading the Hope Builders for Women program, which is funded by the Women’s Giving Alliance. The goal is to empower women economically, emotionally, and socially. The program will focus on solutions (specific to each of the women), inequities that are associated with a lack of financial income or resources that exist in education, health, housing, and employment. Participants in the program can also receive wrap-around services for additional support that is provided by the Barnabas Center which include medical care, mental health services, dental care, healthy food, clothing and crisis financial assistance. Additional services by local partners include vision screenings/glasses and legal assistance.
