🌾 As food insecurity continues to rise across Nassau County, Barnabas Center remains committed to ensuring that no neighbor goes hungry. Since July, the number of residents seeking food assistance has increased by more than 40%, underscoring the urgent need for reliable access to healthy food.
To meet this growing demand, Barnabas Center is offering three essential resources that make it easier for families to find help close to home:
🥕 Weekly Pantry Hours & Evening Service
For ongoing food support, residents are invited to visit the Barnabas Center Food Pantry, located at 1303 Jasmine Street, Fernandina Beach. The pantry offers healthy groceries, produce, and proteins to Nassau County residents in need.
Regular Hours:
🕙 Tuesday–Friday | 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
Evening Hours (Limited Dates): November 20 and December 18
🌙 5 p.m.–6:30 p.m.
Evening hours are part of a pilot program designed to better serve working families who are unable to visit during the day.
🛍️ Emergency Food Bag Locations
For residents needing immediate food support, Barnabas Center has partnered with local municipalities and businesses to establish convenient Emergency Food Bag locations throughout West Nassau.
Each site provides pre-packed emergency bags filled with nutritious, shelf-stable items to help bridge the gap until the next pantry visit.
Current Locations Include:
- Callahan Town Hall – 542300 US-1, Callahan | Mon–Fri, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. | 904.879.1835
- Johnston Signature Furnishings – 542057 US-1, Callahan | Mon–Sat, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. | 904.320.5947

These partnerships make emergency food available across rural parts of the county—ensuring accessibility for neighbors who may face transportation challenges or live far from central food pantries.
đźš— Monthly Community Food Distributions
In addition to emergency resources and pantry service, Barnabas Center hosts monthly community food distributions across the county, offering fresh produce, proteins, and pantry staples.
Upcoming Distribution Sites:
- Martin Luther King Jr. Center – 1200 Elm St., Fernandina Beach | 8–9 a.m.
- Springhill Baptist Church – 941017 Old Nassauville Rd., Fernandina Beach | 9–10 a.m.
- Northeast Florida Fairgrounds – 543378 US Hwy 1, Callahan | 9:30–10:30 a.m.
Participants are encouraged to arrive close to the opening time by car, bike, or foot, as distributions may close early if food runs out or due to inclement weather.
đź’™ How You Can Help
Barnabas Center relies on community partnerships and donor support to sustain its food assistance programs. Community members can help by:
- Donating nonperishable food items.
- Volunteering at a distribution event.
- Making an online donation at BarnabasNassau.org.
- Sharing information with neighbors who may need assistance.
Together, we can make sure every family in Nassau County has access to healthy food and the hope that comes with it.
